Colossus

...And the Rift of the Pan-Dimensional Undergods

Written By: Mike Kieran

Editor's Review:

Colossus is cheesy glory metal, influenced by the likes of Iron Maiden and Hammerfall. Dual guitar riffs are in abundance, but actual songwriting quality is in short supply. The Final Fantasy-themed “Limit Break” gets the album off to a good start, with couplets about dragoons and magicite. The best parts of the album are the song references. “Bubba Zanetti” is dedicated to the Mad Max villain of the same name, and “Salamandastron” references the Redwall series of novels. The epic, 10-minute ode to Willow Ufgood may be the high point on the album. Colossus goes far, but not far enough. Maybe the album could use a Ladyhawke song, or perhaps a ballad describing the lonely vigil
