Los Campesinos!

Hold on Now, Youngster...

Editor's Review:

Just in time for spring comes one of the first really great albums of ‘08. Combining the cutesy indie-pop of The Anniversary and Architecture in Helsinki, Los Campesinos! come out with some fast-paced bittersweet music. At times they even evoke the post-punk leanings of early Gang of Four, like on the amazing second track, “Broken Heartbeats Sound Like Breakbeats” and “My Year in Lists.” From the fast opening to the slower string laden first verse, “Knee Deep at ATP” reminds me just how good it feels to feel good and how music can aid the feeling along. Unless you are completely against sarcastically sugary pop music, give this a listen and maybe start the muggy hot season off on the right foot.
