He's The #1 Stunna, Oh Yeah!

You know how you see people on TV, and you say to yourself, “I bet that dude is hella cool.” Well, that’s basically the mind state I was in going into interviewing Baby the #1 Stunna. Needless to say, I was let down. Even though I was the one who had to wake up early, he sounded like the one who just woke up. Either that or he was just really blunted. There is no need to give any background information on Baby; if you know anything about rap music, you know of him. He’s an icon, but I guess icons have off days too.

You’re at the Grammy’s right now, right? What’s your opinion on being nominated for a Grammy?
Yeah, it’s cool, we just out here, time to chill out, relaxing.

What’s new with Cash Money right now? What do you guys got coming up?
I got this clothing line with Karl Kani, called Life.

Life. Which will be out next month, which is out right now really. We got Wayne Gotti, TQ, the Hot Boys album. And after me and Fresh win this Grammy we’re going be coming out July 1st with a new album.

On your new album, The Birdman, you have a lot of different producers on there. Why did you go out and get these new producers, and do you think it has affected the album sales?
It was something Fresh said was cool for me to do, cause that’s really my in-house producer, you know? He okayed the shit, so everything was cool.

When you were young did you think that you’d grow up to be the # 1 Stunna? Did you always think you’d pursue a career in rapping?
I ain’t think it’d be rap, but I knew in my heart I wanted to be something.

Who do you consider to be the #2 Stunna?
In the industry?

Are the Hot Boys officially back together?
They came back together for this album.

Fresh did the whole album.

It seems Cash Money tends to take over the airwaves each summer, what kind of heat you guys bring this year?
That shit with me and Fresh, we got some shit we putting together, gotta be a summer hit though.

Are you planning on doing any tracks with E-40 in the future?
I mean 40’s a friend, so it’s whatever. He’s a friend.

Which Cash Money release has sold the most copies since Juvi’s 400 degrees?
Big Tymers.

We know you’re the king when it comes to cars, what the latest you’ve purchased?
I got the new Cadillac, it’s like a Suburban. ‘74 Beamer, lightweight shit; I’ve been doing some ghetto shit.

Probably my BMW.

How do you feel about the current state of hip-hop right now and where is it heading?
I mean its only gonna get bigger. It’s gonna be around forever (Someone says something to Baby)…Can you hold on for one minute?
