All ages shows are beginning to piss me off. I love that everyone young and old can see the bands, but these shows start much too early. At least once a week I find myself ducking out of work early and hauling ass to something that should be starting an hour later. I'm sure that no one cares, I just had to vent. So I show up early for once, and I think that I've got time have a beer with my roommate before the show starts, which turned into a beer a shot a bong load and me missing the first two songs of the Inverted Nines' set.
It seems that lately, as hard as I try, I can't seem to be anywhere on time. My intentions are good, I'm just lacking in self control. One of these days I will see a whole Inverted Nines show. I suggest that everyone do so. If you like your music fast and obnoxious, this is your band. (They're the only local band sick enough to cover G.G. Allin.) If you haven't seen them yet, go see them and buy a fucking shirt, they could use the money. Up next was Hit By A Semi, who I'm really getting sick of writing about. No offense, I've just done it a billion times. As always, they put on a hell of a show, including a cameo appearance by the Harmless Cherries, three of my favorite little dirties, who covered a Texas Terry song. I love watching these guys, but I hate writing about it. Soon I'm going to quit reviewing shows all together, 'cause these fuckers are playing every one.
A friend in Orange County has been telling me about the Hunns for months. I figured it was pretty much the exact same shit as the U.S. Bombs; oddly enough, it's not. I was surprised to hear that they actually have a different style. Duane of course sounds like Duane, but that's the main similarity. The formula is pretty much the same: two Les Pauls, drums and bass, but the delivery is much more rock. I loved it. They weren't the tightest band ever, but I think that had more to do with a few equipment mishaps. I imagine the longer they are together, the better they will sound. I was hoping to hear a few Bombs tunes, but not this night. I've heard an ugly rumor that they're over, let's hope it's bullshit.
Anyone who didn't show up missed out on a great punk show, I wonder if this shit will die soon.
