Atom and His Package, Har Mar Superstar, XBXRX, the Sissies & Experimental Dental School

The show began with Experimental Dental School, who I missed because I suck, but I hear they do some innovative extractions and progressive root canals, all while playing music that you'd never hear at your mama's dentist.

I drew near as The Sissies were drawing blood from ears, not because they too are doctors, but because they are rocksters. They came prepared for action with the anti-melodic melody you hear from some of these here punk and indie rock vocalists, also with exchangeable, borrowed drummers, 'cuz theirs was on the way to Sing Sing. (Actually he was in court, probably for unpaid parking violations, but that doesn't sound as hard, does it?) Being the first act of my night, The Sissies made me proud to be a part of that live rock, embryonic, Blue Room experience. Warm and fuzzy all over.

Following were XBXRX, who led me and others to exclaim after their set: Holy Christ! What just happened?! Yes, in the vein of a Blitzkrieg Bop, they came and freaked out and confused us and entertained us, with anywhere between two and four overlapping songs. In matching vinyl, cotton, and Halloween-masks, they bounced hither and thither with fists in the air, like entropy in extended-atomic warfare. It was brief and beautiful and left us all scratching our heads.

Finally, the man I had been waiting for pounced onto the stage with sly eyes and hormones on high. Yes, I am talking about one-man sensation, Har Mar Superstar. He lustfully stalked men and women alike, in his carmine academic-administrator robe, which rippled with devilish eroticism. Then, throwing it off, he revealed a star-adorned pajama one-piece (with crimson cloak), which somehow produced the same effect. Only Har Mar, in his sultry, soulful way, could pull it off. Like the sex machine he is (you're really sorry you missed him now, aren't you?), his musical prowess induced quivering into our unassuming bodies. You know in Cocoon, how the alien-orgasms fly around the room, ricocheting off walls? Well, the general feeling in The Blue Room during Har Mar's set was as such.

Atom and his Package, another one-man extravaganza, had clever ways about him, as well. He enlightened us with song themes ranging from confusion with traffic directions and rah-rah American football to how wise the metric system is and black metal. I enjoyed the latter, particularly in light of all the recent darkness brought upon us by Rich and Jesus and all their followers. Big bold Atom with his church-on-fire choruses, and you probably missed him too. Tsk tsk.
