Hit By A Semi

Friends, Booze & Tattoos

Editor's Review:

Hit By A Semi, one of Chico's hardest working and longest-standing punk rock bands (some of them used to be in Beanfight), is about to drop their first full-length CD, which stands among the best punk rock CDs from a local band to come out in some time. Of course, as it should be with any punk album, it's the music that is the strength here - a good blend of Orange County-style vocals (slightly nasal, backed by deep call-and-response-style shouts), crunchy, old-school guitar hooks as well as catchy new-school licks, and bass that can actually be felt - rather than an outlandish look, behavior or some other kind of cheesy schtick to make people pay attention. The songs, though not pop-y in the slightest, reach out and demand attention, goading listeners into singing along, and the rhythms are conducive to moving. Be sure to be at Mr. Lucky on Saturday, May 12th to pick up your copy - it's a must have for pun rock fans.
