Rise Against

the Unraveling

Editor's Review:

Historians of new-school punk rock will remember from the days of yore a band that was called 88-Fingers Louie. Hailing from Chicago, they mixed melodic punk with a metal / hardcore feel which was something that really hadn't been done a whole lot at that time. Needless to say, after a while they broke up. But arising from the ashes of 88-Fingers Louie is Rise Against, which is basically the same band with a new name and a member or two changed. This is evident in the sound as well. If you liked 88-Fingers Louie, you'll probably like Rise Against, although they may lean more towards the harder end of the spectrum. Fans of Good Riddance and other, shall we say, melodic-core bands (a vague category if there ever was one) may also dig this. Personally I like my new school girly and sappy, thank you.
