Me First and the Gimme Gimmes

Blow in the Wind

Editor's Review:

The basic premise behind Me First is as follows: assemble an all-star team of Fat Wreck band members (including label owner / NOFX bassist Fat Mike and Lagwagon vocalist Joey Cape on guitar) and let them have their way with pop-standards from the days of yore. Blow in the Wind, the third Me First full-length, is pretty much what you would expect from the above description: fun, but not something that demands serious attention. The title track, done originally by Bob Dylan, is an absolute winner. If they could only get it on the radio, I’ll bet a nickel that they’d have old hippies everywhere bonding with their adolescent punk offspring, singing along side by side in their Volvos. Bridging the generation gap through new-school punk — what a beautiful concept.
