the cootdog Project
the cootdog project
Editor's Review:
Local rapper and Mystic Roots frontman cootdog has finally released his long-awaited solo record. This lone MC, backed by a sea of friends (including guys from The Real 420 Records and Shock G of Digital underground fame), has been working on this release for a while, and the results are pretty clean. Through quickly-spit and precise lyrics about drinkin’, smokin’ and lovin’ life, it becomes apparent that coot’s love for his hometown, Marin, and his adopted hometown, Chico Californ-I-A (where he "smokes weed ev-er-y-day") are paramount themes, as are his aforementioned habits. It’s his beats that really stand out on this joint, a schmear of hard, deep bass bombs, reggae-influenced tunes and slightly popped-out beats, insuring a mix of stuff that should appeal to all kinds of music fans. Pick up this CD at local record stores.
