Nine Inch Nails

And All That Could Have Been

Editor's Review:

Nine Inch Nail's live disc, And All That Could Have Been, manages to capture a lot of the structured chaos that makes up a NIN live show. The disc spans the band's history with track's from Pretty Hate Machine (including "Sin" and "Head Like a Hole"), Broken (including "Wish" and "Suck"), Downward Spiral ( including "March of the Pigs") and The Fragile, breathing new life into old songs with alternate versions of the originals. The live versions are hit and miss; "Wish" sounded a lot more furious in its original form on Broken, but overall the live energy adds to the songs. A deluxe format is available with a second disc, Still, that contains nine deconstructed versions of NIN's slower songs. Most of these are just piano and voice, and bring melancholia to a whole new level.
