Clutch

Pure Rock Fury

Editor's Review:

My overwhelming response to seeing a new Clutch record was, "Are they still around?" I thought they had disappeared long ago. I never really listened to them in the first place, but it’s hard not to appreciate them. And I like the title. If you like weed and loud guitars, you’ll like this — pure, BIG stoner rock. I listened to it once stoned and once sober; stoned was profoundly better. Musically, it’s heavy and pretty tight, with lots of bright bass and chunky, palm-muted guitar. The lyrics are at times nonsensical, but always interesting, though I really wouldn’t want listen to this without a bong handy.
