Stereo MC's

Deep Down & Dirty

Editor's Review:

This has got tha' groove going and it's non-stop throughout the whole album. Most of the songs are perfect for a party with a full-bodied, up-tempo sound that works out great for dancing. This UK band uses a great combination of live drums, percussion, samples, old keyboards and luscious female background vocals to round out their sound. The looseness of the song structures gives me the feeling that a lot of the album was written in the studio, and this aids the flow and free feeling. The thick Brit lead vocals move from antagonistic attack to altered mellow groove, falling into the forefront on every track. I hear a definite Massive Attack influence on the slower grooves, and if you're into upbeat trip-hop, you should pick this up and pop it in your player.
