RZA

Digital Bullet

Editor's Review:

RZA, mastermind rapper and producer from the Wu Tang Clan, is back as Bobby Digital, the futuristic persona that’s part cyborg, part Kung Fu Theater hero and part hip-hop superstar. On this, RZA’s second release as Bobby Digital, the Wu Tang leader gets back to the future with slow electro beats fitted with mechanical and ethereal aural augmentation that provide the requisite futuristic vibe. Guest spots are plentiful, from Masta Killa to Jamie Summers to fellow Wu members Ol’ Dirty Bastard, GZA and Method Man — the usual suspects. RZA’s rhymes aren’t particularly mind-blowing, as is the case with many of the guests, but the production value of Digital Bullet is up to RZA par — clean, crisp and inventive.
