Bob Marley

Trenchtown Days: Birth of a Legend

Editor's Review:

This album is basically a slick re-issue of songs the world has heard several times before. I wouldn't recommend Trenchtown Days: Birth of a Legend to anybody not already familiar with Bob Marley. The 20 tracks on the album, which display strong overtones of ska and '50s pop music, offer insight into the artistic development of Marley, but they don't represent his fully developed style that would produce such hits as "I Shot the Sheriff" a decade later. Nevertheless, I don't hesitate to give this album two thumbs up. It's a must for any hardcore Marley fan. Check out "Ten Commandments of Love" and tell me it doesn't make you think of poodle skirts and jukeboxes.
