Hoobastank

Hoobastank

Editor's Review:

Hoobastank's self-titled L.P. is the modern rock quartet's first release since being signed by Island Records. It should come as no surprise to learn that each of the 12 tracks comprised on the album have a distinctly glossy feel. Tracks like "Crawling In The Dark" and "Up And Gone" flaunt catchy guitar riffs, colorful bass lines and crisp vocals. My only complaint is that too many songs sound similar to one another. At the end of the day, this lack of variation from song to song speaks louder than the album's good qualities - namely its maturity and technical bravado - and you are left with something that grows old and familiar after several listenings.
