the Distillers

Sing Sing Death House

Editor's Review:

The sophmore effort of The Distillers is a must have for any fan of punk rock music. Unlike the first album, which had two or three stand out songs, Sing Sing Death House is chock full of "my new favorite" songs. In the past I've described their sound as 'Rancid with a girl singing." However, I get to eat those words now… now they've found their own sound: hard, edgy guitars played over a distinctly hard thumping bass. Simple punk rock drumming (boom tap, boom tap, etc…) always works with music whose message is as important as how you play it. The Distiller's lyrics take the time to identify and address a problem then they take the time to offer a solution, which is something I don't see often in a world full of ultra punk cry-babies. If you have any affinity towards good, hard punk rock then get this album, you'll thank me.
