Talkatif

Editor's Review:

This 16-piece ensemble of crusaders for world peace, love and unity express their sentiment through worldly jams influenced by classic American music. The result on Talkatif is seven tracks of impressive Afro-Cuban-flavored rhythms strongly peppered with thick jazz and '70s soul overtones. The album's title track is simply alive, and dives right into a sublimely funky, two-minute organ solo that leads to an intricate percussion session and riveting horn and vocal solos - all of it tied together with a quick and hard hitting melody head. The opening bass and keyboard lines on "World Without Fear" are tight and lowdown, and the almost sinister tone of "War is a Crime" could lead the soundtrack for an early-'70s crime drama.
