I Get Wet will explode based solely on the driving, anthemic energy of the lead single, Party Hard. This rousing number has been getting all kinds of love on MTV2, and there's something undeniably infectious about its catchy guitar hook, pounding and consistent rhythm and chanting vocal refrain. And Andrew W.K., the man himself, is a hesher's superhero - a long-haired, gruff voiced, hard-rockin' frontman whose penchant for pounding himself in the head makes him look like a real bad ass. But while there is a hard edge aesthetic in the foreground of I Get Wet's vibe, the music is drenched with synth-y keybaord backing, snappy melodies, sing-along choruses and lots of bounce. There is very little about this album - save Andrew W.K. himself - that is hardcore. I Get Wet is a pop wolf in hard rock sheep's clothing.
