Goldfinger

Open Your Eyes

Editor's Review:

In "Spokesman," frontman John Feldmann bitches about the shit that airs on top 40 radio and MTV, but he and the band don't have a problem with playing music that sounds similar. It's a good track, though. Most of these songs are. Open Your Eyes has a slick, radio-friendly sound that's at its best the bouncier it gets. "Radio" celebrates the brief escape music can provide and "Decision" is so fucking catchy that it's forever carved in my brain. If you want something more than a fluffy good time, then look for something else. This CD lost points with me when it got deeper on songs like "Dad" and the title track, where Goldfinger shows a heavier, darker side. Spare me the angst, please.
