Aesop Rock, El P

Dead Light / Train Buffer 12"

Editor's Review:

As members of the Def Jux crew - perhaps the most renown crew currently crafting independent hip-hop - El P and Aesop Rock have gained a steamrolling notoriety for the relentless cleverness and fuck-you stature of their rhymes. This, the first in a series dubbed Urban Renewal Program, is just another example of the duo's dynamic nature on the mic. Both cuts are destined for "classic" status. El P's "Dead Light" is a steady-rolling number based a robo-organic beat over which El P serves the minions of the rap industry. Aesop's "Train Buffer" is a bit more immediate in its apocalyptic nature, utilizing a marching rhythmic track to hold down Aesop's off-kilter verses and strangely catchy hooks. This 12" vinyl also includes, of course, clean and instrumental versions of these songs.
