People Under the Stairs

O.S.T.

Editor's Review:

This Los Angeles duo, Thes One and Double K, do it all - rhyme, produce and scratch - and they do it for the sheer love of the music and the culture. As true fans as well as practitioners of hip-hop, PUTS are true to the game, can rap for days about their hometown - it's beauty and ugliness - or tear off about friends and foes, the rap game and music in general or anything else that occurs to them. There's just something generally approachable and real about these rhymes, and the beats are as solid as they come. Thes One and Double K are admitted vinyl junkies, and their chops are fresh - from rare and sweet, old American soul to more international-flavored jams and plenty in between, O.S.T., like previous PUTS records, represents time spent crate-digging. As for the production, this music is a sun-soaked ride through Los Angeles in a convertible on a blunted Sunday afternoon - sunny, warm, and just dingy enough, washed with the honesty of reality...not to mention a whole lot of fun.
