Spearhead, Robbie Williams

1 Giant Leap

Editor's Review:

Mixing millennial ideals with musical sense, artists like Michael Stipe, Baaba Maal, Neneh Cherry, Maxi Jazz, Robbie Williams, Grant Lee Phillips, Horace Andy, Revetti, Michael Franti, Asha Bhosle, Speech, Kaolin Thompson, Mahotella Queens, Ulali, Eddi Readera and Whiri Mako Black have all recorded songs from several different locations around the world. The resulting compilation is a musical masterpiece and, of course, given the wide range of diversity in the artists, the songs jump from pure relaxation tracks to perfectly dancable rhythmic tunes. The CD's highlights are certainly "Dunya Salam," "Ma' Africa," "Braided Hair" and "Bushes," though nearly all 70 minutes and 42 seconds is worth the price and the time. If you love world music, check out One Giant Leap because it is just that, in the truest sense of the phrase.
