Nashville Pussy

Say Something Nasty

Editor's Review:

There is something to be said for big, loud rock music marked by titanic passages of thick and chunky riffs, slick and screaming guitar arpeggios and solos and thud-rumble rhythm. It's a musical argument in favor of drinking, carousing and living fast in the name of a good time, and few bands present the argument as deftly as Nashville Pussy. This Southern quartet are a bare bones rock band the way it should be - drums, bass, rhythm and lead guitar - mixing dirty and catchy hooks with steamrolling rhythms all anchored down by tried and true blues-based progressions and a shitload of attitude. Songs like "Keep on Fuckin'," "The Bitch Just Kicked Me Out" and the epic "Gonna Hitchhike Down to Cincinnati and Kick the Shit Out of Your Drunk Daddy" reveal not only Nashville Pussy's penchant for Peterbuilt-sized rock music, but also for their road-hardened, in-your-face aesthetic.

Bio[+]
Formed in Athens Georgia in 1996, Nashville Pussy has been releasing some of the nastiest, sweatiest psychobilly rock ‘n’ roll that has ever offended Middle America. Their first album, Let Them Eat Pussy (originally released on Amphetamine / Reptile Records in 1998, then re-released on Mercury) yielded “Fried Chicken and Coffee,” a song that earned them a Grammy nomination for “Best Metal Performance” in 1999. Their original “Southern Discomfort” style has successfully tickled the musical Labias of critics and fans alike, and their sexual innuendo, wild stage antics and dirty lyrical themes provide concert attendees an often-memorable show. Their latest release, Say Something Nasty (Artemis Records) was released in 2002.
