Naughty By Nature

IIcons

Editor's Review:

So I'm sitting here with my headphones on listening to IIcons, the new release from one-time hip-hop cheerleaders Naughty by Nature. The shiny, polished presentation of their new material makes me think back to when Naughty by Nature was the shit; an era when dope hip-hop releases were solid representations of the group's sound, not a compilation of tracks, each individually constructed to appeal to its specific market in the huge demographic of commercial hip-hop. While it's obvious Naughty by Nature is trying to regain the popularity they had in the early '90s using collaborations with Pink, 3LW, Meth, Redman, Carl Thomas and Lil' John, I just wish they wouldn't make it so blatant.
