Division of Laura Lee

Black City

Editor's Review:

Yet another awesome punk band to come out of Sweden. I can't help but wonder if we could be on the verge of some kind of Swedish invasion. Seriously though, I loved this album within the first ten seconds of its opening track, "Need to Get Some." It's so catchy I had to grab the sides of my cranium and yell "get out of my head, you Swedish demons!!" until the voices subsided. It's impressive to see a punk band strip down and focus on vocals. The lyrics complement the feel of the punk / classic rock guitars and rolling drums with sharp-witted, dark and melodic phrases that perfectly build tension until the choruses release it all with melodic explosions. I'm going to keep my eyes on these guys.
