El P

Dead Disnee 12” vinyl single

Editor's Review:

The remixes only available herein are what make this single worth copping. Of course, the record features the song's album version (from El P's debut solo full-length, Fantastic Damage), but it also contains an EL P remix of the original and a version called "Dead Weathermen." The remix of "Dead Disnee" is funkier than its source track, using a bouncy dub bass line and a space-echoed "funky drummer" beat, which lightens the track; then El starts rapping, generally laying down enough pessimism to depress Mickey after a night with Minnie. The "Dead Weatherman" track features the mic skills of underground supergroup the Weathermen (rappers Cage, Camu Tao, Vast Aire and Copywrite) representin' over the track's original beat - a mid-tempo gait with a nervous electro tone and sturdy stance rooted by the constant thump of the kick.
