Rob Swift

Sound Event

Editor's Review:

Though many fans of Rob Swift’s DJ crew, the world famous X-ecutioners, are a bit disenchanted with that group’s recent musical direction (many DJ heads have a hard time getting down with Linkin Park), there’s no denying the crew’s talent, especially that of Rob Swift. Anyone who would like to refute that statement should pick up a copy of Sound Event, and prepare to be reminded why Rob Swift collects tons of accolades. One of Rob’s self-described missions with this record is to explore and push the boundaries of playing the turntables like a traditional instrumentalist. To that end, he gets busy with legendary production genius and old school keyboardist Bob James; beatboxer The Human Orchestra Kenny Muhammed; and indie hip-hop legends like DJs Radar, Mello-D and Quest, and MCs Supernatural and J-Live. Throughout Sound Event’s 40-minute duration, it is evident that Rob is not only a talented but also an inspired and driven hip-hop DJ.
