Transplants

Transplants

Editor's Review:

After the debacle of late-'90s whiteboy crapola touting itself as a "combination of rap and metal," I was resistant to the idea that the two should ever meet again. Luckily, The Transplants (Tim from Rancid, Travis from Blink-182 and newcomer Rob Aston) come at this punk and hip-hop inspired group like nobody's ever tried it before. Throughout this bizarre identity crisis of an album, the Transplants bravely forge a unique, informed and creative sound. They also aren't limited by popular genres but throw in some dub, drum-and-bass and even industrial beats just to keep you on your toes. The album reminds me of the successful genre-blending of bands like Ministry, Rage Against the Machine and Operation Ivy. This is truly adventurous music for the ADD crowd - it's bold, yet blurring and most importantly, loud, fast and inspired.
