Gorillaz

Celebrity Take Down

Editor's Review:

This fully interactive DVD is designed to showcase the English cartoon badboy band Gorillaz and the music they make. Born from the mind of Tank Girl artist Jamie Hewlett and Blur frontman Damon Albarn, this DVD is based on the two-dimensional four-piece band and allows viewers into the group's home, a mad-scientist-type lair perched over a cemetery. The house / DVD map is divided into three floors that contain rooms - band members' rooms, a lobby, a cinema room, a toilet and a "Back End" room. Surfing through the various rooms will reveal in-depth looks at the two popular Gorillaz videos ("Clint Eastwood" and "19 / 200"), as well as tons of videos that never made MTV, including one that was never finished; cartoon shorts called "Gorilla Bites" starring our anti-heroes in various humorous situations; two clips of the technically astounding live show; and a slightly informative but largely cheesy documentary called "Charts of Darkness." It's all pretty cool stuff, but might only be of continuing interest to hardcore Gorillaz fans and aspiring graphic artists.
