Talib Kweli

Quality

Editor's Review:

Someone should thank Talib Kweli - just a simple "thanks" - for being consistent, for not sacrificing what he stands for to sell a few more records. Kweli has been around forever but broke out as the "one to watch" on the first installment of the Soundbombing compilations and hasn't looked back. From there he moved on to Black Star (with Mos Def) and to Reflecton Eternal (with Hi Tek), and now Quality. Through it all, Kweli has maintained a level of dopeness most MCs brag about but few can prove. Quality is proof positive not only of Kweli's consistency, but also his longevity and growth as an artist. With top notch production from Megahertz, Kanye West and DJ Quick, Quality is a much needed breath of fresh air in a dismal time for hip-hop in general. I can only hope the rest of the hip-hop nation pays attention.
