Whip It On

Editor's Review:

Comparisons to the White Stripes are sure to come in droves for this Danish duo. Their CD cover is red and white and features a man and woman. However, the comparisons should end there. Whip It On is as much electro-thrash as it is trend-rock. While the disc is lo-fi to the core, it does feature boy / girl harmonizing (Kim Deal style) and brutal bass lines. This eight-song disc seems to encapsulate desperation by the record industry for off-the-wall pop-rock to be packaged as the "next big thing." The music should speak, not the album cover. Speak it does, and remarkably so, on tracks such as "Veronica Fever" and "Beat City." This disc will be a lock with hip kids who think Europe is the last bastion for good rock music.
