Brazil

Dasein

Editor's Review:

With a full-length in the works, Dasein, Brazil's six-song EP for Fearless Records (former home of At the Drive-In) is a bit of a tease. In the short time it spins in your CD player, it will leave a pleasant buzz in your ears, but will leave you wanting more. Brazil, a six-piece outfit from Indianapolis, IN, is a young band, and it shows in this EP- the lyrics are riddled with confusion, naïveté and musing on relationships gone wrong. Tumultuous guitar work mixes with tender keys on "Erasure," and the band shows it can incorporate irregular rhythms and unexpected changes without losing their strong pop sensibility on "Life Death" and "It Keeps the Machine Running." Brazil still has some room to grow, lyrically and musically, but if this EP is any indication, the band should mature nicely.
