The music from the dark and twisted Movern Callar by director Lynne Ramsay has special meaning within the movie; the soundtrack consists of songs found in a tape that is left behind by Morvern's boyfriend, who has just committed Christmastime suicide. Artists like Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, the Velvet Underground, Stereolab and Ween are compiled on the recording, each exhibiting some of their most profound and confused-sounding music. Included is the medley "Some Velvet Morning" by Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra, and Aphex Twin's trippy "Goon Gumpas." Ranging from ridiculously happy and misplaced to melancholy and reserved, the spectrum of this soundtrack is almost overwhelming. This combination of sounds leaves the listener asking "Why?"
