Rufio

Rufio EP

Editor's Review:

Rufio are, in many ways, a throwback to the late '90s heyday of SoCal new school. The galloping horse beat, the Iron Maiden-esque harmonized guitar lines, the metal riffs. However, unlike bands like Strung Out and others who occupy the emo punk-metal world, Rufio seem to have a refreshing charm about them that makes an old sound seem new again. This three-song EP, their first release for Nitro Records, is decidedly less stellar than their previous work, but still gets across the basic premise of Rufio's music: melodic singing over crispy riffage. Fans of New Found Glory and the like would do well to check these kids out.
