Mr. Dibbs

'Outreach 5' 12" single

Editor's Review:

Dibbs, a Cincinnati native, 1200 Hobos DJ crew member and half of the duo Atmosphere (with Minneapolis MC Slug), recently dropped this, the first single off of his forthcoming full-length solo album. "Outreach 5" is a surprisingly funky track when taken in the context of Dibbs' famous rock mixes and generally hard-edged vibe. The tune was actually produced by fellow Cincinnatian and Five Deez member, Fat Jon the Ample Soul Physician. Mainly centered on string and keyboard samples, "Outreach 5" is held together by splashy cymbals, a rolling drum progression and female vocals, all setting the stage for Dibbs' structurally integral and smoothly delivered work on the wheels of steel. This 12-inch also features some Fat Jon extras and a handful of tracks showcasing Dibbs' own ruff and rugged beat-crafting styles - like "Jive '71," the B-side track - making this single almost an EP, and a good one at that.
