Joseph Arthur

Redemption's Son

Editor's Review:

This third release from American singer / songwriter Joseph Arthur wraps the listener in soundscapes and melodies that feel strangely exotic and yet comfortably simple. While a newcomer by no means, Arthur's music has yet to find a home within the mainstream. While some might consider this a blessing, this music begs the listener to ask the question, "Why haven't I heard this performer before?" The cuts on this record range from simple piano ballads to sample-laden rockers, all of which are meticulously crafted works of art. This being the case, it is difficult to value one song over another. Each track is deserving of accolades in its own right. This record times in at a hefty 74 minutes, but it never seems overloaded or overly ambitious.
