Punk-O-Rama: The Videos Vol. 1

Editor's Review:

This two-hour plus DVD acts as a time capsule for Epitaph Records, whose history can be traced back over 20 years. Not only do the videos range from early '90s Rancid and Pennywise to recent clips from Millencolin and Hot Water Music, but a short documentary, "The Epitaph Story," chronicles the timeline of the indie punk label from its humble beginnings to its explosion in the mid-'90s to today. With hilarious commentary from people like Fletcher Dragge from Pennywise, Fat Mike and label-founder Brett Gurewitz, this special feature alone is worth the price of the DVD. Other tidbits include live performances from Bad Religion and The Bouncing Souls and, of course, the main attraction, 22 videos from the Epitaph stable. Standouts include the slick visualization of Bad Religion's "Sorrow" and a savage clip for Refused's "New Noise."

Bio[+]
When Guttermouth formed in Southern California’s Huntington Beach in 1989, they had little idea that their brand of pop-infused party punk rock would encompass the ideals for a generation of don’t-give-a-fucks. The group is comprised of vocalist Mark Adkins, guitarists Scott Sheldon and Derek Davis, drummer Captain James T. Nunn and bassist Stever Rapp. After signing with and releasing five albums for Nitro (the label started by Offspring frontman Dexter Holland), the group signed with punk luminaries Epitaph and released Covered with Ants in 2000. This group likes to get drunk and do stupid things. Suburbanite mayhem-inducing kiddies love them for their humorous, sophomoric approach to music.
