Near Miss
The Gentle Art of Making Enemies
Editor's Review:
Kick-kick-snare drums and bass lines that are heard more than felt, combine to
anchor fast and repetitive punk rock ‘n’ roll riffage as the band
belts out vocals á la Bad Religion, but concerned more with emotion than
politics. But just when you think you’ve found another new school rock band,
this group changes things up a bit. Not only does this four-piece have six members
— two guitarists, one of whom sings, a bass player and a drummer, plus two
other guys, apparently there for moral support — but they’ve got a
penchant for tricky breakdowns and changes that show their true diversity in songwriting.
Not only does Near Miss create an interesting pastiche of punk rock’s most
popular new styles, but they keep things fresh, and with any luck, Near Miss will
have a hit in The Gentle Art of Making Enemies.
