This auspicious debut starts off with the driving, layered rocker "Jim O'Rourke"
that ebbs, flows and ultimately comes to a fevered cymbal-crashing climax. But
the EP's remainder is every bit as introspective as the opener. "Part II"
incorporates beautiful, breathy duets over a subdued, gloomy backdrop before picking
up the tempo a bit. Dreamy effects and production further enhance the solid, clever
turns that the music takes, occasionally bringing to mind David Bowie's more experimental
side. The local trio creates an interesting astmosphere by way of soul-baring
rock that can brood when it needs to. Both personal and wistfully detached, this
one's a keeper.
