F-Minus

Wake Up Screaming

Editor's Review:

Led by Brad Logan and Erica Daking (both on guitar and vocals), F-Minus should be voted modern punk band most likely to kick your ass. Recorded by influential Chicago-based producer, Steve Albini, F-Minus' fourth full-length album on Hellcat Records is a raw, brutal reminder that punk rock is an aggressive form of music. Throughout these 15 tracks, there isn't even a hint of pop intrusion, just pure, abrasive bliss. Songs like the title track, "Sweating Blood" and "Controversy (World of Shit)" boast furious, passionate deliveries that go straight for the kill. Logan's razorblade vocals tear open wounds, Daking's demonic wails rub in ample salt and Adam Zuckert's crushing drum tracks sound like something more akin to breaking bones. Wake Up Screaming is a listening experience that may require stitches.

Bio[+]
Stemming from the Huntington Beach hardcore punk scene, the SoCal-based F-Minus (currently comprised of guitarist / vocalist Brad Logan, bassist Jennifer Johnson, guitarist Erika Danking and drummer Adam Zuckert) has been releasing old-school flavored punk rock since their 1997 Give ‘Em The Boot single. A year later, two EPs followed: Failed Society (Hellcat) and Won’t Bleed Me on Pealo Records), followed by their 1999 full-length self-titled debut (produced by Tim Armstrong of Rancid). Their follow-up album, Suburban Blight, was released in 2001.
