the Supersuckers
Motherfuckers Be Trippin’
Editor's Review:
In the same vein of The Ramones, Motörhead, The Toadies and Social Distortion,
Supersuckers play no-nonsense stripped-down rock that lives up to the mission
statement of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll. With their new release,
Motherfuckers Be Trippin’, the Supersuckers take the listener on an alcohol-fueled
journey of good, clean, ol’ rock ‘n’ roll fun. After spending
some time on Sub Pop records, releasing countless singles and a “Best
of” CD, the Supersuckers have solidified themselves as a rock ‘n’
roll band that will be here to stay. Now, the Supersuckers have created their
own recording label, Mid-Fi Recordings, cutting out all the bullshit behind
the music industry to deliver you, the listener, wholesome music.
Motherfuckers Be Trippin’ contains drinking songs, fighting songs and
yes, even a romantic piece entitled, “Pretty Fucked Up.” The music
is nothing new in terms of brilliance, but that is what the Supersuckers want.
They are not interested in the aspect of technicality in their songwriting,
but do concentrate on more of that old school AC/DC rock feel. The feeling on
this record is a suggestion that the listening public needs to get back to the
roots of music. The listening public needs more rock ‘n’ roll and
furthermore, rock ‘n’ roll like that of the Supersuckers. If you
are a fan of rock and are tired of listening to weak and tired music, don’t
be a sucker — get this album.
