Death By Stereo

Into the Valley of Death

Editor's Review:

Death By Stereo is one band that might actually live up to its name. Their latest release, Into the Valley of Death, is a relentless sonic assault that, though released on punk rock label Epitaph, seems to be more rooted in the traditions of thrash and metal. Songs like “The Plague” and “What I Can’t Hear, Touch, Taste, Smell or See Can’t Hurt Me” showcase Death By Stereo’s penchant for sharp, industrial-strength metallic riffs and screaming leads courtesy of guitarists Dan Palmer and Jim Miner. Frontman Efrem Schulz’s voice ranges from an atonal shriek, to a death metal growl, to an actual singing voice, delivering often dissident lyrics with bloodcurdling ferocity. Into the Valley of Death is a dense, frantic collection of 13 tracks that strike hard, fast and with malicious intent. Definitely not for the timid.
