the Ramones, Rob Zombie
House of 1000 Corpses Soundtrack
Editor's Review:
To say something is self-consciously creepy is also to say that it sucks. It’s
like a chick who knows she’s hot or a nerd who knows he’s smart.
The soundtrack to House of 1000 Corpses is neither hot, nor smart — mostly
boring and contrived. Why was The Texas Chainsaw Massacre scary? Because it
appeared to be a documentary — a record of reality. House of 1000 Corpses
is the opposite and the soundtrack is a perfect result of that phenomenon. It’s
hackneyed, obvious and self-serving. Let’s be honest, Rob Zombie is boring.
His songs on the soundtrack are more boring than anything he’s ever produced
(rehashing the orgasming porn star loop, if you can believe it). There’s
an exceedingly dumb remake of The Commodores’ “Brick House”
and some scattered and unnecessary dull dialogue. A waste of plastic and cardboard.
