Prince Paul is down by law in hip-hop, and pretty much anything he puts out is
gonna bang. After all, he made Stetsasonic famous, discovered De La Soul and has
produced and DJ’d for everyone who’s anyone in rap. Until now, however,
Paul’s solo releases, DJ albums like Psychoanalysis and the hip-hop stage
musical A Prince Among Theives, have evaded substantial mainstream attention.
Given the guest list on Paul’s latest, Politics Of The Business, he’s
now firing at the masses…and it’s like shooting fish in a barrel.
With friends like Masta Ace, Trugoy (Plug 2), Guru, Chuck D, Chubb Rock, Ice T,
Beatnuts, MF Doom, DJ Premier, Mr. Len and Dave Chappelle making appearances,
this album can’t miss. Paul, ever the consummate professional and creative
force, accommodates every MC in a way that is special while managing to keep to
the album’s theme — the politics of the business, from the streets
