Aceyalone

Love and Hate

Editor's Review:

Aceyalone is one of those cats you either really feel, or don’t. Since Freestyle Fellowship, he has always had a style of his own that reflects his West Coast state of mind, a style too unique to garner commercial fame. With Love and Hate, Acey drops his high powered flow over beats by RJD2, Joey Chavez and El-P. This is his most diverse release, and maybe his best since the classic All Balls Don’t Bounce. “Moonlight Skies” is an RJD2 slow jam that features the beautiful voice of Goapele and is guaranteed to bring peace to your ears. Too many bangers to name, but the most memorable, “Ms. AmeriKKKa,” really demonstrates the love and hate theme of the album. If raw hip-hop is what you’re seeking, your search is over.
