Silverstein

When Broken is Easily Fixed

Editor's Review:

Most people have by now figured out that Victory Records has abandoned its former role as haven for hardcore bands in favor of a more, shall we say, commercially viable business model. It’s somewhat similar to the old-fashioned method of determining when pasta is fully cooked: take every shitty screamo-pop, wannabe-Thursday band out there, throw them all against the wall, and see what sticks. It certainly worked with Taking Back Sunday, the latest Victory success story, but Silverstein is no Taking Back Sunday. Their half-baked brand of Canadian crunch-pop, with the obligatory occasional cookie-monster background vocals is, shall we say, lacking in substance. Maybe if you really like Finch or Thrice, you might dig Silverstein, but I don’t suggest trying,
