The influence of seminal ‘90s Bay Area smart-punkers — and some would say inventors of the modern emo punk aesthetic — Jawbreaker upon today’s new school pop punks is more than obvious. So it really wasn’t a matter of if, but when, said new school bands would piece together the obligatory tribute CD. And the results are, as could be expected, tepid at best, but something of an irresistible flame for black-haired emo moths. Stand out tracks include a very compelling acoustic version of “Jet Black” by one of the guys from The Movielife; The Aeffect’s electro take on “Boxcar”; veteran Jawbreaker jockers Face to Face’s version of “Boat Dreams from The Hill”; as well as tracks from Sparta, Riddlin’ Kids and Fall Out Boy among others.
