Den Of Thieves
Editor's Review:
Any release bearing the Eighteenth Street Lounge Music (ESL) label —
like this one, Den Of Thieves: The Sound of Eighteenth Street Lounge Music
— is a safe bet for fans of downtempo electro jazz and lounge music.
This particular album contains 13 tracks of the best ESL currently has to offer,
including a mix of Ursula 1000’s “Samba 1000” by Italian composer
and producer Nicola Conte; “See The Light” by electro-dub purveyors
Sofa Surfers; and the swanky “Hommage” by French production duo
Les Hommes. Most impressive are contributions by ESL owners Thievery Corporation,
whose “Language Symbolique” is a sunny and open tune with alluring
female vocals; and Desmond Williams’ jazzy composition, “Brooklyn
Blues,” that morphs from a soft and sweet jazz number to a mellow jam
that marches with a deep and steady groove.
