311

Evolver

Editor's Review:

311 is quite possibly one of the most confused bands in the world. These Omaha natives (now Los Angeles residents) are lost somewhere between the musical styles of rap, rock, pop and reggae, and the adolescent clichés of stoner culture, rave culture, excessively droopy pants, backwards baseball caps, cow-tipping and blissful ignorance. This latest release isn’t much different in terms of musical aesthetic, though it certainly is polished. Unfortunately for the band, that degree of shine through painstaking production that makes everything sound so snappy also effectively removes anything dangerous or interesting. Back to the lab, boys. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.
