Rancid

Indestructible

Editor's Review:

Rancid’s latest album bears a fitting title, more or less. Regardless of the group’s place in the spotlight, it seems that they will persevere and continue to make music. At times, the blue collar grit that made Rancid insteresting seems to have been smoothed over on Indestructible. Songs like “Red Hot Moon” (featuring vocals from Rob Aston of that Transplants debacle) are listless and tired while Tim Armstrong’s vocals sound like a parody of themselves on “Django.” But this album does have its saving graces. “Indestructible,” “David Courtney” and “Travis Bickle” pack a lot of heart and savage vocal hooks with working class harmonies. Indestructible is inconsistent, but there should be enough highlights to keep hardcore fans coming back to the pit.
